NBC will be the primary source for U.S. Olympic coverage in the Beijing 2008 games. It seems now, however, that NBC might not be the only source.
USA Today reported yesterday that the United States Olympic Committee is considering creating a new all-Olympics cable network, and that it might launch prior to the Beijing Olympics.
The network would not be intended to compete with NBC. Instead, it would tell Olympic stories, presumably year-round. I think this is a great development.
Olympic athletes compete constantly (not just every fourth year), but is difficult to find television coverage of their competitions outside the Olympics. If you tried to follow this year's U.S. Olympic Sailing trials, you know what I mean.
