Laura Bennett is not the only U.S. Olympic runner married to another Olympian. The New York Times just posted an interesting piece about Olympic running couples.
The article quotes Ryan Shay, a U.S. marathon runner, as saying:
In college, a lot of distance runners are obsessive-compulsive, and I didn’t want to deal with that,... But when you’re out of college, it’s totally different. Running is my career. It’s 24/7. Every decision you make will affect your performance. It’s hard to find someone who respects that.
Shay did find someone who respects his dedication to running -- his wife, Alicia, another Olympic hopeful.
