Kathleen Hersey won gold at last year's USA Swimming National Championships, and she is a favorite to make the 2008Olympic Swimming Team.

Commenting on what the Olympics mean to her, Hersey explains:
"We play the national anthem after school every day, and on occasions I get goose bumps thinking about [the Olympics] because you are representing your country and not just your school or your club team. I can't even describe what it would be if I made that team."
