Team U.S.A. Holding Strong at World Boxing Championships in Chicago

We are in the midst of the 12-day World Boxing Championships in Chicago, which will continue through November 3. So far, Team USA is faring well.

On Tuesday (October 23, 2007), Molina Javier won.

Raynell Williams won his first match Wednesday (October 24, 2007), as did Shawn Estrada and Michael Hunter. Unfortunately, Deontay Wilder lost to Krzysztof Zimnoch of Poland.

On Thursday (October 25, 2007), Christopher Downs won a close match, while fellow U.S. boxers Rau'Shee Warren, Sadam Ali, and Demetrius Andrade also won.

On Friday (October 26, 2007), Bantamweight Gary Russell, Jr. won; his match this coming Tuesday will determine whether he qualifies for the Olympics. Molina Javier won again.

Today (Saturday, October 27, 2007), Rau-Shee Warren won another match, as did Raynell Williams, and Shawn Estrada. As of this posting, results for Michael Hunter's fight are not yet available.

Team USA is dominating its opposition. We should have high hopes for U.S. Boxing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
