Tragedy in the U.S. Marathon Trials -- Ryan Shay

Ryan Shay, one of the favorites to win today's U.S. Marathon Trials collapsed early in the race and was pronounced dead this morning.

This a terrible tragedy for the sport.

The top three finishers today -- Ryan Hall, Dathan Ritzenhein, and Brian Sell -- will each be competing in the Beijing Olympics. Their victory has been overshadowed today, however, by the horrible news regarding Ryan Shay.

Ryan Hall, who won first place, learned of the death of his friend, Shay, only an hour later.
